The state of our broken roads and pavements is an embarrassment – particularly in Nottinghamshire. Whilst this is the responsibility of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Councils – Matthew will use his influence as Mayor to demand a minimum standard guarantee on road repairs and ensure that utility companies are signed up to this too.
Whilst enhancing public transport, I will prioritise the South Derby Growth Zone / A50 junction, a link road that will help progress the wider Toton and Chetwynd project, the Winthorpe Bypass and prioritise proposals on the Chesterfield / Staveley Regeneration Route.
Councillor Relf said, “It’s clear that whilst improving public transport is critical, the state of our roads and pavements is a real concern for residents. Whilst fixing them is not the responsibility of any new Mayor – they shouldn’t abdicate their influence. I will work with Constituent Councils, to deliver a number of major transport infrastructure projects. My minimum standard guarantee is one that councils and residents will welcome and that will extend to the utilise companies who vandalise our roads.”
